As part of its programme to adopt sustainable energy sources, Telkom plans to build electric vehicle charging stations.

This forms part of Telkom’s sustainability programme, which includes a 3 megawatt solar farm on the company’s Centurion campus.

Naidoo said the car charging points on its campus will be available to staff, clients, and guests for free.

Telkom is also speaking with “other big conglomerates” to see if they can roll out car charging points nationally.

Naidoo said its on-campus charging stations will be a proof-of-concept, and they will take what they learn there and apply it to future roll-outs.

Naidoo said they are looking at different sites around the country to install electric car chargers – however, the plan is still conceptual, he said, and it would be premature to confirm anything at this stage.
